Cal State Fullerton, Microgrid Feasibility Study
October 2019 - September 2020
CSU Fullerton campus wanted increased reliability of their electrical system. They turned to P2S to conduct a feasibility study for an automated microgrid system and islanding capability of their electrical grid, in the event of a power outage. This study involved field investigation and compilation of energy generation and usage data, campus loads, and current electric rates. Data was acquired by reviewing existing utility bills and onsite generation sources.
After reviewing the data, P2S evaluated the tie-in of on-site generation sources including gas turbine and PV systems for a microgrid and islanding. Our team also reviewed proposed battery storage system locations. Our feasibility report included a summary of our findings and existing conditions as well as our recommendations for the microgrid and islanding.
