Case Study:
Marquez Elementary School
P2S, alongside NAC Architecture, is supporting LAUSD in rebuilding Marquez Charter Elementary School after the Palisades Fire—restoring learning space quickly while planning for long-term campus performance. Phase 1 (the temporary classroom campus) is complete, and we’re now designing Phase 2: the permanent, full campus rebuild, providing mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical (including fire alarm and technology), and photovoltaic system services.

Kirk Anglin

With more than 25 years of experience supporting the education market, Kirk leads multidisciplinary project teams and helps clients navigate the full journey from planning through construction.
As a Senior Project Manager, he guides large and complex modernization efforts that bring together technology, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering to support safer, more interconnected learning environments. Districts and design partners rely on Kirk as a proactive liaison who keeps communication clear, coordinates expectations, and ensures project goals remain front and center. He is known for fostering collaborative relationships with architects, facilities leaders, and contractor teams, bringing everyone to the table to deliver thoughtful, functional, and future-ready campus improvements.
Vanessa Reyes

Michael Grace
PE Mechanical EngineerMechanical Engineer & Studio Lead
Michael has over nine years of experience and proven success in project management, and extensive experience designing efficient HVAC designs for education and other clients. With a keen focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, he ensures compliance with ASHRAE standards and integrates LEED-certified designs where applicable. He also provides quality control for HVAC design projects, develops technical reports, and mentors engineers and interns to maintain high industry standards. His expertise includes leading energy modeling initiatives and performing field investigations to troubleshoot and optimize mechanical systems. He has conducted energy audits to enhance building performance and is committed to advancing energy-efficient engineering solutions that drive innovation across commercial and institutional projects.
Michael and his studio tackle projects with multiple districts and design teams including those for Long Beach USD, Los Angeles USD, Inglewood USD, Hermosa Beach USD, Kern UHSD, Fullerton Joint USD, Hemet USD, Rosemead SD, Downey USD, San Bernardino City USD, and Ojai USD.
Cesar Rodriguez

Cesar has designed mechanical and plumbing systems for an array of projects across a broad spectrum of architectural sectors since 1997. His diverse project experience includes educational facilities, as well as healthcare, data centers, and municipal facilities. Several of these projects have been recognized for their sustainable design elements, meeting the stringent requirements of LEED, CHPS, and SDG&E’s Savings by Design performance criteria. His expertise includes project management, project coordination, energy modeling, California Code compliance, HVAC dry and wet systems design, plumbing systems design, design-assist and design-build projects, and clean room design. Cesar has gained extensive awareness of the integrations required for a successful project through design, plan check, construction, and commissioning.
Cesar and his team in the San Diego office are working with many districts in the area, including San Diego USD, Oceanside USD, Riverside USD, Centinela Valley UHSD, Poway USD, and Valley Center-Pauma USD, where the All-Tribes Charter School Shop Buildings are ready for construction.
Vaibhav Prasad
PE Electrical EngineerElectrical Engineer & Studio Lead
Vaibhav has over 12 years of experience, which includes the design of new systems and infrastructure, electrical system upgrades, and exterior lighting masterplans. He has provided electrical design for clients in various industries, including K-12 schools and higher education, municipal, industrial, and federal. He has designed electrical systems for power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarm, and other specialty electrical systems.
Vaibhav offers integral support to the electrical engineering studio within the P2S Seattle office. Vaibhav has served as project manager for several MEPT projects, with duties encompassing day-to-day management, providing construction design packages, overseeing construction administration, scheduling meetings, and ensuring projects remain on schedule, scope, and budget. As a project manager and an electrical engineer, he has been providing comprehensive solutions on various building design and electrical infrastructure projects. He has also been involved in developing lighting energy and cost-saving reports for various campuses.
Vaibhav and his studio in our Seattle office work with a variety of districts in the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle Public Schools, Lake Washington SD, Puyallup SD, Cosmopolis SD, Marysville SD, and Tacoma Public Schools.
Rudy Martinez
Electrical EngineerElectrical Design Engineer, Studio Lead
Rudy Martinez is an electrical design engineer with over nine years of experience working on projects across various industries, including K-12 schools, public and private universities, churches, and restaurants. His work experience encompasses electrical distribution calculations, electrical, power, lighting design, and fire alarm design. He has acted as the lead designer for both K-12 modernization projects and multiple higher education building projects, including student services buildings, technical services buildings, and physical education buildings.
As Studio Lead, his team contributed to projects with Fullerton Joint USD, Inglewood USD, Los Angeles USD, Downey USD, Wiseburn SD, Hawthorne USD, San Diego USD, and Long Beach USD, including the brand-new Wilson High School Aquatic Center.
Shishir Patne
Electrical Studio LeaderElectrical Design Engineer, Studio Lead
Shishir Patne has eight years of electrical engineering and power design experience, including new system design, electrical system upgrades, and exterior lighting master plans. His experience includes electrical design and assessment of projects in K-12, higher education, commercial, and municipal fields. The electrical systems involved in design projects have included power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarm, and other specialty electrical systems. He has a broad understanding of sustainable infrastructure systems and in-depth knowledge of power system analysis and design, load flow analysis, short-circuit duty calculations, fault calculations, transformers, and motor design.
As Studio Lead, his team has experience working on projects with Los Angeles, USD, Culver City USD, Santa Monica-Malibu USD, Downey USD, Hemet USD, Saugus USD, the Orange County Department of Education, and Long Beach USD—including the district’s first all-electric campus at Washington Middle School.
Eric Gomez
CPD Senior Plumbing Design EngineerSenior Plumbing Design Engineer, Studio Lead
Eric has 22 years of plumbing design, fire protection, and construction experience. His extensive knowledge spans design, drafting, specifications, plan check submittals, cost estimates, inspections, and construction administration. He has significant expertise in K-12 and higher education facilities, designing a comprehensive range of plumbing and fire protection systems, including campus natural gas distribution systems, as part of master planning for future expansions across various campuses.
Eric has served as project manager and design engineer on various plumbing system design projects with duties encompassing determination of project scope, design criteria, coordination with the client and project team, provision of construction design documents, written construction design specifications, equipment selections, construction cost estimates, construction support and project management.
He and his plumbing studio have worked on multiple campus-wide modernization projects for Los Angeles USD and Long Beach USD, as well as new construction for Santa Monica-Malibu USD’s Performing Arts Complex, and LAUSD’s Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies.
Amanda Miranda
CPTD, LEED GA Plumbing Design EngineerPlumbing Design Engineer, Studio Lead
Amanda has over seven years of professional plumbing design experience, with projects primarily focused on K-12 and higher education. She has been involved in multiple stages of projects, from investigation studies and design to addressing RFIs and performing punch walks. Her strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and eagerness to innovate allow her to efficiently and effectively address the client’s needs.
As a Studio Lead, she and her team are involved in projects with Los Angeles USD, Long Beach USD, Culter City USD, Downey USD, Inglewood USD, Wiseburn USD, Santa Monica-Malibu USD, San Marino USD, and Hemet USD, including the current rebuild of the permanent structures for LAUSD Marquez Elementary which was destroyed in January 2025 by the Palisades Fire.
Amanda is the current Orange County Chapter ASPE President.
Alex Hoeft
FPE Fire Protection EngineerFire Protection Engineer, Studio Lead
Alex Hoeft has ten years of experience in fire protection design for both new and existing facilities. He has designed systems for K-12 and higher ed campuses, as well as commercial, industrial, storage, healthcare, residential, and government facilities meeting Title 24 standards. Alex specializes in the design of sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump systems that optimize efficiency and ease of installation. He is knowledgeable in code and is skilled at communicating requirements for complex project scenarios. His industry background spans multiple market segments and includes experience navigating the DSA approval process.
Alex and his studio have designed safer campuses for Centinela Valley USD, Downey USD, Hermosa Beach USD, Long Beach USD, Los Angeles USD, Santa Monica-Malibu USD, Fullerton Joint UHSD, and Inglewood USD, as well as private campuses for Education First, Campbell Hall, and Magnolia Science Academy.
Michael Dannenberg
Senior Technology System DesignerSenior Technology System Designer, Education Studio Lead
With over 29 years of technical project management and systems engineering experience, Michael helps to create learning environments that are both engaging and secure for students and faculty. Known for his innovative solutions and creative approaches, he has worked on a wide variety of award-winning facilities. His project experience often encompasses exploring how technology can best enable new learning pedagogies. He enjoys focusing on educating for accessibility in technology as well as planning for eco-friendly products and sustainable design.
As the P2S studio lead for educational projects, and since the majority of our firm’s design work includes low-voltage design, he and his team have worked with numerous school districts, from the expansive Los Angeles and Long Beach USDs, to smaller and more remote districts, with the focus on meeting the district's and individual project's needs. For the West Covina High School Performing Arts Center, we’ve worked with the district since 2018, helping to guide them toward the goal of providing a comprehensive hub for the district and the community.
Cole Bailey
PE, RCDD Technology Consultant, Electrical EngineerTechnology Consultant, Electrical Engineer, Studio Lead
Cole brings six years of experience in the electrical engineering and technology industries. He leads the K-12 studio delivering low voltage system designs ranging from complete campus rebuilds, district-wide modernizations, to specialty spaces such as multi-purpose rooms, gymnasium, and outdoor learning areas. Design services include network infrastructure, emergency communications, AV for students and staff learning and experience, as well as campus security including access control, site surveillance, intercom, and intrusion detection.
The team is proud of their work with the major local school districts, large and small, having recently completed classroom assessments of over 300 classrooms across 6 LAUSD campuses and are now designing the AV system infrastructure to improve student engagement and teacher capabilities.
Recent technology modernizations of Downey USD campuses have challenged us to think outside of the box to provide fully networked, secure, and user-friendly teaching technology, all while maintaining a polished open ceiling industrial look that staff and students can be proud of and enjoy every day.
Phan Truong
LEED AP BD+C Building Performance Studio LeadBuilding Performance Studio Lead
Phan has over 16 years of experience in energy analysis, sustainability consulting, HVAC design, and building science research. She has led energy analysis efforts for new and existing academic, healthcare, laboratory, and commercial projects to evaluate energy efficiency measures and optimize building system performance, with the majority of these projects pursuing LEED certification, the Living Building Challenge, and utility incentive programs. She has contributed to the mechanical design of academic projects targeting Zero Net Energy and carbon neutrality and provided LEED administration and documentation services on multiple projects targeting LEED Silver and Gold.
Phan is passionate about sustainability and passive design and has provided clients with expert knowledge on thermal comfort, natural ventilation, and the building envelope. She has led thermal comfort studies to evaluate glazing design options, contributed to a natural ventilation control sequence for a zero-net-energy teaching laboratory, and conducted thermal bridging and glazing research to develop best-practice guidelines for both in-house and client projects.
Phan and her team have contributed to many successful K-12 projects for Los Angeles USD, Fullerton Joint UHSD, Oceanside USD, Inglewood USD, Valley Center-Pauma USD, Long Beach USD, Downey USD, Poway USD, Solana Beach USD, and Santa-Monica USD.

Jessica Clark
PE Mechanical EngineerMechanical Engineer
Jessica has over nine years of experience, including both minor renovations and extensive modernizations and new constructions for large K-12 and community college campuses. Services have spanned from the sizing and selection of replacement mechanical equipment to the design of new buildings. Jessica has worked as a Design Engineer on numerous HVAC airside projects. Her role encompasses everything from schematic and conceptual design to the creation of construction documents and drawings. She is adept at energy modeling and oversees construction administration and project management services.
NOTABLE: Jessica has served as the lead mechanical engineer on multiple major projects including Inglewood High School Remodel.
Bridge Robinson
Mechanical Design EngineerMechanical Design Engineer
Bridge has two years working in the industry, being involved with both small renovation projects and large new campuses for K-12 and community college projects. Bridge regularly assists in equipment sizing, load calculations, duct work design, and clash coordination. Bridge has experienced projects from the schematic design phase through construction administration.
NOTABLE: Bridge supported the Inglewood High School Remodel and was the primary production staff to help complete this complicated project.
Shannon Hormozian

Shannon has six years in the industry working as an electrical engineer. Shannon has supported projects ranging in size and complexity for K-12, community college, municipal and port facility design. Shannon is experienced in lighting design, lighting controls, electrical distribution, and coordination with other disciplines to provide quality design. Shannon has provided construction administration on all of her providing her with the understanding of “real life” installation which she applies to all designs. She is currently serving as the primary engineer on smaller projects giving her insight into big picture understanding of projects.
NOTABLE: Served as Project Manager for Phase 1 of LAUSD’s Marquez Elementary School—providing temporary facilities less than one year after the campus was destroyed in the January 2025 Palisades Fire.
Rhonar Ramos

Rhonar has four years in the industry and is a vital part of the P2S team. He is heavily involved in K-12, community college, and municipal projects. He supports projects from schematic design through construction for lighting design, lighting control, Title 24 conformance, electrical distribution, submittal review and request for information response. Rhonar has worked on remodel and new facilities giving him unique perspective on implications of design choices and how those effect future maintenance for buildings.
NOTABLE: Rhonar is involved in several LAUSD projects and currently is leading assessments of six LAUSD facilities to upgrade classroom electrical systems.
Octavio Gonzalez

Octavio has been in the construction consulting industry for 10 years. He has a wide range of experience in plumbing design from K-12, community college, municipal to high-rise design. He has been involved in all stages of projects, from assessments and design to addressing RFIs, submittals and performing punch walks. Octavio’s many years of experience provides a deep knowledge base for him to utilize on his designs and is utilized as a resource by his teammates.
NOTABLE: Octavio is the primary plumbing designer on the Inglewood High School Remodel.
Luis Ochoa

Luis has been designing plumbing systems for the past two years and has worked on projects ranging from entertainment studios to K-12 facilities. He is currently supporting the production on a variety of K-12 and community college projects that include classrooms, kitchens, gymnasiums, multi-use recreational spaces and more for both modernization and new facilities.
NOTABLE: Luis is supporting the design of the LAUSD ELAOC school which is helping to modernize the campus by introducing a modern, adult education facility to the campus.
Theresa Siri
Fire Protection Design EngineerFire Protection Design Engineer
Theresa has two years of experience in designing fire suppression systems, and three years in plumbing design for new and existing facilities. She has designed fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and plumbing systems for educational, commercial, residential, and public/institutional facilities that meet International Building Standards. Specializing in the design of various types of sprinkler systems for efficient fire suppression, her industry experience crosses numerous market segments and includes a thorough understanding of the DSA approval process and design requirements for educational facilities.
NOTABLE: Teresa has served a major role in design of the fire protection system for Washington Middle School, over 150,000 square feet of space.
Kaya Ables
