East Los Angeles College (ELAC) has a rich history serving as a gateway to success to its Monterey Park community. And with a LEED Silver certification, the project also affirms ELAC’s and the Los Angeles County Community College District’s (LACCD) commitment to sustainable practices.

  • Solution

The $79 million Science and Math complex comprises of one new and two renovated buildings. The complex is home to the college’s Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Anthropology/Earth Sciences departments. Our design prioritized efficiency and environmental friendliness, using a creative mix of strategies like daylight dimming controls, sun-controlled windows and optimized wall and roof insulation to easily qualify for LEED Silver certification. The complex’s central plaza provides students with a vibrant communal area for activities and relaxation in beautiful green spaces.
