Chaffey Joint Union High School District, Health Sciences High School
A new paradigm for specialized health sciences education
Chaffey Joint Union High School District serves students in the western San Bernardino County cities of Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and Montclair. The district is building a new $118 million health sciences high school in Ontario, California to better prepare its students for tomorrow’s healthcare intensive economy. The school will be adjacent to Valley View High School and will accommodate up to 1,200 students enrolled in a specialized health sciences curriculum. The facility will feature 180,000 GSF of total building space with 54 classrooms, library, multipurpose space, cafeteria, gym, pool and synthetic track and field. The new school is scheduled to open in August 2022.
Gensler is the project’s architect and our team is providing MEP and fire alarm design services for the new campus. Chaffey Joint Union anticipates that the new campus will set a precedent for specialized high school science education. Every student learns differently, and the goal of this new school is to break down learning barriers and provide students with every available resource to help them succeed. Our design team will keep the District’s educational objectives firmly in mind throughout the design and construction processes. The building systems we design will lead to better learning for Chaffey students, enabling them to thrive in a competitive world.
