  • Project Overview

As part of UC Irvine’s strategic energy plan, the campus wished to reduce campus energy costs. They turned to us to analyze several buildings and determine potential energy conservation measures (ECMs), including an estimate of how many kWh could be saved annually by implementing individual measures. We also determined the cost of implementing each measure to recommend to the university only those solutions that made the most economic sense.

  • Solution

We went to five different campus buildings to determine the existing conditions inside each building. Our team monitored each building and developed ECMs along with total annual savings, implementation costs, and payback timelines for each. After we determined which ECMs to use and calculated the savings, we produced drawings to provide to contractors for bidding. We also worked with the local utility company to ensure rebates for the construction cost.
