  • Compassionate hospital care receives an expansion and remodel

  • Project Overview

St. John’s Regional Medical Center is Ventura County’s most active hospital. Recently, the hospital experienced both an increase in trauma visits and a surge in births. This led to the decision to expand both the Emergency Department (ED) and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) suites. The expanded ED will include 26 exam rooms, new X-rays, three private triage rooms, three trauma bays, three new nursing stations and two new psychological evaluation rooms.

  • Solution

Our team delivered mechanical and plumbing design services for this expansion and remodel project. We designed seismically compliant mechanical equipment, controls and provided OSHPD load calculations for the additions and remodel at the ED and designed a high reliability mechanical system to provide the utmost comfort to new mothers and the hospitals tiniest patients. Our plumbing design included providing outlets for domestic and cold water, new roof and storm drains, and design for the medical gas systems. We also provided fire sprinkler performance specifications and reviewed the contractor’s shop drawings. The 6,200 SF emergency room expansion and 6,000 SF remodel will be complete in 2018.
