Project Overview
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works selected a team of SWA Architects, Abbott Construction and P2S to design and build a new, 15,000 SF mental health facility in San Fernando, CA. The design-build facility will replace an existing courthouse annex and will provide services for children and families. It will have space for the Department of Public Health’s Nurse Family Partnership program that provides services to young mothers throughout LA County. The building includes a waiting area, reception area, business offices, counseling/therapy rooms, cubicle spaces, conference room, group therapy rooms, storage and staff lounge and accessible restrooms.

Solution
P2S served as the MEPT design partner in the Design-Build team. The electrical design included power and data outlet plans, lighting systems and controls, power for new roof-mounted HVAC equipment and parking lot lighting design with a 3D photometric study. The mechanical design scope included equipment load calculations, ductwork/piping plans and diagrams, building management system controls and a sequence of operations. The plumbing scope consisted of plans for water, natural gas, storm water, waste, and venting for systems and fixtures. We also designed an integrated building security system and audiovisual systems for individual spaces. Our team also provided detailed plans for technology rooms with server rack and distribution cable ladder rack layouts.
