Sacramento State University, Eureka Hall Cabling & Telecom Room Upgrade← Back to Projects
Sacramento State’s Eureka Hall is home to the university’s College of Education, Bilingual Multicultural Education Department, Counselor Education Department and several other important education related departments. Eureka Hall contains classrooms, labs and offices which were due for a technological update. Specifically, the university sought to upgrade the existing telecommunications infrastructure and cabling installations throughout the building. Sacramento State hired P2S as the prime consultant to design their upgrade and bring Eureka Hall up to current technology standards.
The P2S technology group designed the telecom infrastructure and cabling upgrades to comply with the latest California State University telecommunications infrastructure planning (TIP) standards. The building’s telecommunications infrastructure upgrades included the build out of new telecom rooms and upgraded equipment spaces to meet TIP standards. We also designed new pathways for the distribution of both riser and horizontal cabling. We upgraded the telecommunications cabling installations to Category 6 cabling at outlet locations, to support voice and data services throughout the building. We also planned the removal of the building’s existing Category 5e or lesser rated cable.
