Solution
The building’s HVAC system meets occupants’ needs, provides a safe environment and accommodates changes in building operation. The design of the building’s envelope, new HVAC equipment, and lighting were all essential in achieving the College’s sustainability, energy performance, and LEED certification goals. In addition to achieving LEED NC v3, Gold Certification, the building’s systems were designed with the goal of achieving a 20% energy savings by cost versus a Title 24 baseline building. The buildings' mechanical and lighting systems tie into the campus-wide photovoltaic array, adding to the savings by cost. The facility’s telecom infrastructure provides reliable, flexible and scalable access to information technology resources including, voice, data network, administrative computing and student services. The ensure occupant safety, the P2S Fire Protection team ran a comprehensive smoke control analysis on this new building.
