  • Project Overview

Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital serves 1.35 million people in South Los Angeles providing a range of vital outpatient and inpatient health services to the community. With the aim to provide the highest quality care to those it serves, MLK is going through with renovations to its operating rooms (OR) and central sterile processing department. Our team lent their MEP, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and low voltage engineering expertise to the project.

  • Solution

Our work at MLK involves the renovation of the air distribution to solve temperature and humidity issues within five existing operating rooms on the third floor. We’re also replacing existing operation room ceilings due to addition of diffusers which may require relocation of light fixtures, sprinkler heads, low voltage devices and medical gas outlets. A further item is the addition of a new cart washer and sterilizers in the sterile processing department on the third floor, adjacent to the operating rooms. The scope also includes renovation of utilities to support new equipment installation, removal of existing HVAC for use in the adjacent operating room spaces, and addition of a new HVAC above the fourth floor on the rooftop.
