Renovations bring CSULB Liberal Arts students and professors into the 21st century

CSULB’s Liberal Arts buildings 2, 3 and 4 were long due for some extensive modernization. The three 1950’s era buildings had never been renovated so we knew going in that some major upgrades were in order. We gave the buildings a facelift with new finishes, roofing, paint and drought resistant landscaping. We also included ADA upgrades as part of the package, to ensure accessibility for all. Telecom upgrades to 26 “smart” classrooms really brought the buildings into the 21^st century with advanced data and AV systems that give educators new possibilities for interactive teaching. The result? LEED Gold certification and a 2015 CHESC Best Practice Award for Overall Sustainable Design.

The three buildings include classrooms, offices and conference spaces and total approximately 44,000 SF. Areas of concern were energy efficiency and seismic safety. We helped to bring the buildings into the new millennium on both counts, aiding the seismic retrofit and completely remodeling all MEPT systems including upgrades to the main electrical room, new lighting and power, support to new AV systems and new heating and air-conditioning.
