Project Overview
After enrollment in its nursing programs quadrupled with support from local hospitals, Cal State Long Beach needed to expand its nursing facilities to accommodate students in its professional nursing programs. After successfully unveiling the new, 10,800 SF School of Nursing building, the university hired us to commission its mechanical and controls systems. Equipment in these systems included a built-up air handling unit, terminal air units with reheat, split-system AC unit, hot and chilled water pumps, and the building’s automation system.

Solution
Through the commissioning process, we made certain that the building’s mechanical and control systems were operating exactly as specified and as efficiently as possible. We did this by implementing the most efficient control strategies for resetting supply air temperature and static pressure and for controlling building pressurization. The results are clear, for energy savings and increased occupant comfort, commissioning services offer true value.
